On Thursday, the Georgia Department of Education released the district-wide 2012 results of the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT), which have been administered each year to students in grades 3 through 8.
Since 2000, the exams have been critical in determining whether schools met annual academic goals, known as adequate yearly progress or AYP. The AYP is a critical benchmark of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
