GNTC Gordon Co. GED graduation tonight
Georgia Northwestern Technical College will hold GED Graduation for the 2008-2009 Gordon County Campus GED graduates at 7:00 p.m. at the Calhoun Civic Auditorium. Gordon County adults who have earned the General Educational Development Diploma during the 2008-2009 school years have been invited to attend with their families and guests.
Most graduates attended Adult Learning Centers to prepare for the high school equivalency tests. Some also utilized an online supplemental learning option. Georgia Northwestern Technical College is an official General Educational Development® Testing Center under contract with the Technical College System of Georgia and the American Council on Education.
Michael Johns, a student in Construction Management at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC), will be the special student speaker for the ceremony. Johns was recently awarded the Helen and Vernon Crawford Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship is awarded to worthy students who have completed the GED and have elected to continue in secondary education.
Johns began the Construction Management program in January 2009. While a student at GNTC, he has maintained a 4.0 GPA. He was named as an EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education) for 2009 and represented Georgia Northwestern during the Literacy Institute in Atlanta in February 2009. He has been nominated for EAGLE Student of the Year in Georgia which will take place in October 2009 in Atlanta.
