The man struck by a SUV in Cedartown on Jan. 11 will likely recover from his injuries, according to police officials.

Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome identified the victim as Davares Frazier, 34, of Cedartown.

Frazier was crossing the street on South Main Street in front of Grand's Food Store around 2 p.m. when he was struck by a SUV driven by a local 93-year-old man.

Newsome said Frazier's family told him that he is in a regular room at a Rome hospital. Frazier has several broken bones and bruising, but should recover, according to the family.

The driver of the Mercury Mountaineer striking Frazier will not be charged, Newsome said.

that stretch of cedartown's main street is straight and flat; easy to see oncoming traffic. since there were no charges against the driver, was the pedestrian found to be under the influence of something?
