Two people were transported to the hospital by ambulance after a two-car wreck on Hwy. 278 in Cedartown.

The wreck took place around 1:45 Wednesday afternoon in front of the Polk County 911 building and Department of Driver Services.

According to officers on the scene, it appeared that a burgundy Dodge Caravan was traveling west on Hwy. 278 when a 2-door red Chevrolet car attempted to cross over the four-lane highway.

The vehicles collided, sending the Dodge Caravan off the roadway, onto the shoulder of the roadway and over a small incline, just missing an antique road grader that is on display in front of the Polk 911 office.

Traffic was slowed for about 30 minutes while the roadway was cleaned and the vehicles towed.

Both drivers appeared to have non life-threatening injuries.
