The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County this weekend, Nov. 17-18:

1. Georgia Highlands College is now accepting non-perishable goods and winter clothing for needy individuals. Registration for needy families will be held at the Worldview Baptist Church gym, 500 N. College Drive, Cedartown, on Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. An ID will be required. For early registration, call 706-853-0285 and ask for Connie. Distribution will be held at Worldview Baptist on Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants must be registered.

2. The Rockmart Civic Arts Commission will hold a "Holiday Gift Show" reception at the Cultural Arts Gallery, 316 N. Piedmont Ave., Building 300, from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. Cookies, hot chocolate and coffee will be served and Santa Claus will be on site to take pictures with children.

3. Steadfast will play a benefit concert at Georgia Highlands College on Nov. 17 from 4-6 p.m. in the Lakeview Building. Admission is non-perishable goods or winter clothing.

4. Cedartown First United Methodist Church will hold Sunday morning services at 11 a.m.

5. Cedartown First Presbyterian will hold Sunday morning services at 11 a.m.
