The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County, going on in and around Polk County today, Nov. 27:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activities. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. The Coosa Valley Area Chapter of the Georgia State Retirees Association will hold a local chapter meeting and reception for our area State Senators and Representatives on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Rome-Floyd County Library, 205 Riverside Pkwy, Rome, A short business meeting to elect officers for the coming year will follow the reception. All state retirees are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting. For further information contact Jim Burton, 706-235-6024.

3. Haven, a support group for women, meets each Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Cedartown Housing Authority, 344 West Ave. A group discusses such issues as domestic violence, sexual assault and addictions among other topics. The group is described as a place where women can safely talk about any problem or issue they may be having. For more information, contact 770-748-6633 or 770-748-2300.

4. The Cedartown Development Authority will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. at the Georgia Department of Labor.
