He was born March 30, 1931 in Wilcox County, Ga., the son of the late Leon Brown and Ella Gibbs Brown Warren.
Mr. Brown began his career after graduating with a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Mercer University School of Pharmacy. His first job was at Moore’s Pharmacy and realized that he had love for the Polk County and Cedartown communities.
Mr. Brown then opened and operated his own businesses, Brown’s Ambulance Service and Brown’s Pharmacy where he continued his lifelong passion.
The Pharmacy became a hub for Wilburn and friends to drink their morning coffee and solve the “world’s problems” at the “round table”.
Mr. Brown also served his community as a Commissioner for the City of Cedartown for several years. He was a supporter of numerous civic organizations for Cedartown and the Polk County area. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Cedartown.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Leo Brown.
He is survived by wife, Judy Redding Brown; children, Wilburn Lee Brown, Jr. and wife Cathy, Denise Wallace and husband Mark, Windell Ploof and wife Pamela, Donna Parton and husband, Robbie; sister, Robbie Bullington; brother, Merle Brown. Also surviving are Grandchildren, Leslie Brown Kimball (Roger), Ashley Brown Purser (Brian), Wilburn Lee Brown III “Trey”, Brett Wallace, Breanna Wallace, Devin Ploof, Carson Parton and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at The First Baptist Church with Dr. David Taylor and Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating.
Interment followed in Northview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Devin Ploof, Carson Parton, Brett Wallace, Trey Brown, Roger Kimball and Brian Purser. Honorary pallbearers were: Wilson Wallace, Ray Merritt, John Herndon, Seals Swafford, John Ashley, Bill Cody, Billy Croker, Jerry Weaver, Terry Wheeler, Rodney Little, Mike Nix, Jan Robinson, Sandra Davis, Phyllis Dowdy, Dawn Norris, Barbara Norris, and Karen Hindman.
