Mr. Hardy

Mr. Marvin Eugene Hardy, 79, of Cedartown passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012.

He was born on May 3, 1933 in Aragon, the son of the late Dewey Henry Hardy and the late Lodis Cochran Hardy.

Mr. Hardy was a member of the 1950 Rockmart High School State Champion Football Team and a graduate of Notre Dame Prep School.

Mr. Hardy was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War and retired from Inland Container Corporation of Rome with 40 years of service.

He was a member of the Aragon United Methodist Church and for many years attended the Aragon Baptist Church.

Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Hardy McClure and a brother, David Hardy.

Survivors included his wife, Barbara Ann McDonald Hardy of Cedartown to whom he was married on Sept. 3, 1960; a son, David Ray Hardy and his wife Theresa Kay Hardy of Villa Rica; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Brown officiating.

Interment services followed in the family lot of Polk Memory Gardens with presentation of the flag provided by the Brown-Wright American Legion Post No. 12 Honor Guard.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Tracy Garrison, Brandon Vance, Blake Hardy, Jason Gunter, John Pope and Cody Hawkins.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the 1950 Rockmart High School Football Team.
