Mr. Meeks

James W. Meeks, 66, of Wichita Falls, Ks., passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012.

Mr. Meeks was born to the late Curtis and Virginia Meeks on Jan. 25, 1946 in Cedartown.

He graduated from Cedartown High School in 1964. He married his loving wife Carla Vantrease Meeks on Dec. 12, 2010.

Mr. Meeks joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and after 28 years of service, he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1992.

He was an active member in Southwest Baptist Church of Wichita Falls. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry W. Meeks; and his sister, Janice L. Meeks.

He is survived by his wife, Carla; two children, Thomas Curtis Meeks and wife Christy of Archer City, and Molly Louise Meeks of Iowa Park; step-daughter, Jacquelyn Nicole Vantrease; step-son, Corey Atkins Vantrease both of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Carolyn J. Reagan, Linda D. Atkins, and M. Annette Berger; two brothers, Bob V. Meeks, and C. Curry Meeks, Jr. all of Georgia; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, in the chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home with Rev. David Bishop of Southwest Baptist Church officiating.

Interment followed at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
