State Rep. Matt Ramsey is going through his bill section by section Friday in front of the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
Once he finishes answering questions from fellow legislators, the committee plans to open the floor for public comment.
Ramsey's bill mirrors some provisions in a controversial Arizona law enacted last year. A federal judge blocked some provisions of that law last year after the federal government sued.
The ACLU of Georgia has said it will sue if the Georgia bill is enacted into law in its present form. Ramsey says the bill is still evolving based on feedback and legal consultation.
