Cedartown police responded quickly to a robbery incident and made two arrests.

While on the scene of a shooting incident on King Street at 3:30 a.m. on May 15, Cedartown police received a call referencing a problem with a subject on Slusser Avenue.

Officers arrived on the scene and from speaking to the complainant determined that two people attempted to pull a woman out of a car window in an apparent attempt to rob her, according to reports.

Reports said both suspects left the scene before police arrived.

A witness gave descriptions of the two male suspects. Officers canvassed the area and two different officers found the suspects separately a short distance from the incident location.

Police said one of the suspects fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot chase. The other suspect initially yielded to the officers, but he then fought with police when they arrested him, police said.

Police arrested Charlie Daniel Martinez, no age listed, of Cedartown. He is charged with robbery, assault, public drunk and obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Uriel Gonzalez, 30, of Cedartown, was charged with disorderly conduct. Police said the investigation indicated that Gonzalez was not one of the men trying to pull the woman out of the car.

The investigation is still ongoing.
