More than 250 Rockmart customers are currently without power due to downed power lines.

Georgia Power Co. spokesman Jeff Wilson said repair crews are on the scene now and expect to have power restored "within an hour."

The outage, which occurred around 1:45 p.m., affects the Goodyear Village neighborhood, including First and Third avenues, and Litchfield, Wingfoot and Lane streets.

This is the neighborhood's second outage today. Power was out for about an hour early this morning, cutting out shortly before 5 a.m. Power was restored around 6 a.m.

The neighborhood was hit by powerful winds from a severe thunderstorm last Thursday. That storm produced a funnel cloud that was captured on video over the community, lasting for a few seconds before disappearing.

The storm ripped down several old oak trees along Goodyear Street and also caused heavy damage to two homes in Rockmart.

Wilson said "it is impossible to know" whether today's outages are directly related to last week's storm damage.

Telephone and internet service from AT&T was also disrupted in the Goodyear Village for several days. Service was restored just today, around noon.

Edit: Power was restored shortly after 3:05 p.m.
