MACON, Ga. -- The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Authority has voted to extend its negotiations with Halls of Fame Inc. of Macon until July 31.

The authority is negotiating to transfer the operations of the museum to Halls of Fame Inc., the lone group to submit a bid to take over the museum. The Georgia Legislature announced last year that it will stop funding the sports hall at the end of the fiscal year, which ends June 30.

Authority Chairman Kirby Moore says there have been a few issues that have slowed the negotiations and that meeting the original deadline of Friday to reach an agreement would be impossible.

The Georgia Music Hall of Fame, which also was located in Macon, shut down last weekend.
