The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, July 29:

1. A vegetable growers market is to be held every Tuesday and Friday at Peek Park. The market will be open from 7 a.m.. to 8:30 a.m. each day and will continue through the summer months. The market began June 24.

2. A monster truck race will be held July 29-30 at the Polk County Fairgrounds, in the rodeo arena.

3. Rockmart Nursing and Rehab Center, 528 Hunter St. Rockmart, will hold a health fair on Friday, July 29 from 10 a.m. until noon. The health fair will feature free blood pressure screenings, strength and balance assessments and hand massages. Health Care professionals will be on site to answer questions. 4. The Kiwanis Club of Cedartown meets every Friday at 12:15 p.m. at Cherokee Country Club.

5. The Cedartown Performing Arts Center will hold the "Texaco Country Showdown" at 7 p.m. tickets will by $10 if ordered in advance and $15 at the door call 770-748-4168 for directions or more information.
