The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, April 23:

1. A grand opening/open house will be held at the Redmond EMS station 3 at 128 Philpot St. in Cedartown from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

2. The Rockmart Theatre will had a gallery art show at 6 p.m. and a theatre variety show at 7 p.m. as part of Georgia Cities week.

3. Main Street Books in Cedartown is participating in World Book Night April 23. Those interested can join thousands of others by donating or helping freely distribute thousands of books to the community. For more information go to www.worldbooknight.org or contact Main Street books 404-502-2183.

4. The Rockmart Civic Arts Commission offers drawing classes on MOndays from 5:30-7 p.m. The cost is $12 per session plust a onetime $10 supply fee. Contact Insturctor Kathy Torres at 706-266-554 for more information.
