Floyd Primary Care and Floyd Urgent Care in Rockmart hosted a ground-breaking ceremony April 24 at 11 a.m. in anticipation of the construction of a new facility at the intersection of U.S. 278 and Ga. Hwy. 113 in Rockmart.

The larger, more convenient location will house the practices of Floyd Primary Care family medicine specialist Dr. Thomas Garcia, and primary care physician assistant Stephanie Hyson-Guevara as well as urgent care physicians Dr. Greg Matechak and Dr. Leia Dawson Chatman. Floyd Physical Therapy and Rehab will move its Rockmart office to the new building as well.

Construction on the 13,930-square-foot building, which will feature 21 examination rooms, is expected to begin in June. The new building is scheduled for completion in December of 2012.

badland12, you are so right! FMC is full of lies & deception! Has been for YEARS but they just keep right on going. Now it is too late for Polk County. We are stuck now because the great propaganda machine has been loosed...just wait until the state declines to give a new certificate of need. The worst is yet to come. They post their cookies & milk billboards all over the county & slap each other on the back while Polk County residents are going to be the ones that suffer. So sad!

Here is the money for the renovation of Polk Medical Center in Cedartown or Could this be the new hospital they were talking about? Floyd has no money for a hospital and has been trying to get the county commissioner's to give them a bond to fund the hospital. They are also wanting Polk Co. taxpayer to fund the millions of dollar's it will take to run sewer and water out hwy 278 to the supposed building site. This county will have the same little hospital in Cedartown because Floyd does not have the money to back what they told the citizen's there were going to do. It is funny that a new urgent care is coming out of the ground after Floyd said in the town hall meeting's they were going to do a 2 million dollar renovation on the current Polk Medical Center. Once again Floyd has mislead the community and they will continue to do so by not completing the promise they told the citizens last year. So Polk Taxpayer's get ready because if the county back's them where do you think the money is going to come from...Mine and your pocket.
