The Rockmart manufacturing location of Japanese-based Miura Co., Ltd. received a visit Wednesday from company President Yuji Takahashi.

Employees gathered on the manufacturing floor to hear Takahasi’s remarks, during which he praised them for their hard work and encouraged them to continue working to help achieve the goal of making Miura “number one in the United States” in its industry.

Takahasi spoke in Japanese, pausing frequently to allow Mark Utzinger, president of the U.S. division, to translate.

The Rockmart location, Miura Manufacturing America Co., Ltd., supplies the U.S., Mexican and Brazilian markets with industrial steam boilers. The manufacturing plan opened in 2009 at 2200 Steven B. Smith Blvd., occupying the county-owned speculative building at the industrial park in Rockmart.

Miura’s Rockmart location now counts 65 employees, Utzinger said. The Rockmart location, recently expanded, has the capacity to manufacture more than 250 boilers each year, he said.

The company’s steam boilers incorporate a “floating head design” that allows boilers to produce steam in 5 minutes, compared to some competitors’ products that require more than an hour to reach operating temperatures, the company states. The company also claims to be at the forefront of “green technology,” promising savings of about 20 percent on oil and gas operating costs – even higher on some models.
