Mr. Fred Stephen McDowell, 81, of Cumming, passed away on June 3, 2012.

He was born in Cedartown, on April 30,1931.

Mr. McDowell served proudly in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Georgia State University and was employed by Eastman Kodak for over 32 years in management.

Prior to his illness, he was an active member of the Cumming Baptist Church.

Mr. McDowell was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus McDowell, and loving sister, Carmel McDowell Boswell.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Virginia Morris McDowell.

Also surviving are daughters, Lynne (Garry) Mize of Cumming and Lauren (Dave) Terry of Franklin, Tenn; brother, Willis Lee (Jerry) McDowell of Cedartown; sister, Elaine (Roy) Anderson of Cedartown and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6 at McDonald and Sons Funeral Home.

The McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
