Mr. Garrett

Mr. Alfred William Garrett, Jr., 73, of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1938 in Cedartown the son of the late Alfred William Garrett, Sr. and Lillie Mae Mull Garrett.

Mr. Garrett was a veteran having proudly served in the United States Navy and also a retiree from the General Electric Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Inez Garrett.

He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Mary Frances Carter Garrett; sons and daughters-in-law, Will and Andrea Garrett and Adam and Karen Garrett; sister, Faye Meek and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were conducted on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Latham and Rev. Billy Frasier officiating. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Brewster Cleveland Post 86 Honor Guard.

Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bob Tracy, Bobby Green, Clark Brumit, Stan McCord, Billy Frasier, Ray Brumit and Cleve Hartley. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Temple, Buster Puckett, T. A. Dempsey, John Bailey, Earl Kinne and Jimmy Smith.

The family has requested that flowers be omitted; however, if desired memorial contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church of Cedartown, P. O. Box 826, Cedartown, GA 30125.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
