Mr. Armatage

Mr. William Thomas (Tom) Armitage, 76, of Cave Spring, died Thursday, July 19, 2012.

He was born in Rock Run, Ala. on Oct. 29, 1935, a son of the late Charlie Armitage and the late Cora Lee Hayth Armitage.

Mr. Armitage was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and served in Germany in 1957. He was member of the New Harmony Baptist Church, Mr. Armitage was formerly employed at the Celanese Corporation, the Cedartown Fire Department, and Lee Cylinder in Cedartown.

Besides his parents, He was preceded in death by a sister, Dot Shaw.

Mr. Armitage is survived by his loving wife, the former JoAnn Hale Morgan, to whom he was wed Oct. 22, 1982; son, Darren Armitage and his wife Kim of Ringgold; daughter, Donna Meeks of Carrollton; stepson, Clint Morgan of Cave Spring; brother, Olin Armitage of Anniston; three sisters, Frances Gowens of Piedmont, Joyce Freedman of Texas and Jewell Smith of Anniston; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dewayne New officiating.

Interment followed in the Cave Spring Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chris Evans, and Mr. Armitage’s grandsons, Jonathan Ferrell, Brad Ferrell, Chad Ferrell, Brannon Armitage and Blake Armitage.
