Mr. James Harrison Holland, Sr., passed away on July 1, 2012.

He was born on April 5, 1920 in Cleburne County, Ala., the son of the late James Hill and Bertha Rutherford Holland.

Mr. Holland was a lifelong resident of the Cedartown community. He was an active member of the Cedartown church of Christ where he was the oldest male member.

Upon retirement from Goodyear he worked as a custodian at Westside Elementary. Mr. Holland was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as enjoying wood working in his workshop.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruby Moncrief Holland; daughter and son-in-law, Angela Holland Bentley and Larry; sister, Dessie Pettyjohn; brothers, Edward Holland and Robert Holland; sister-in-law, Frances Powell; a granddaughter, two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, James Harrison Holland, Jr.; sisters, Mable Piper, Thelma Weems and Eva Andrews and a grandson.

The funeral was Friday, July 6 at 2 p.m. at the Cedartown church of Christ with minister Edward W. Lee, minister Bob Gray, and minister Steven Mercer officiating.

Interment followed in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Billy Joe Lewis, Greg Carter, Shiron Cook, Jake Ayer, Hunter Ayer, Robbie Williams, Ricky Mathis and Terry Sensing. Honorary pallbearers were: Alicia Lewis, Lexis Lewis, Aubree Lewis and the men of the Cedartown church Of Christ.

Flowers are being accepted; however, donations can also be made to The Cedartown church of Christ, 326 East Avenue, Cedartown, GA 30125.
