Two Band students from the Polk County School System recently performed with the Georgia Music Educators Association’s District VII Honor Band in Calhoun.

Alan Jackson, bari saxophone, of Rockmart High School, was seated with the Symphonic Band consisting of 11th and 12th grade students.

Samantha Cleveland, flute, of Rockmart Middle School, was seated with the Middle School District Honor Band 2.

These students auditioned for these parts in early December. Their Honor Band experience consisted of a rigorous 3 day clinic with 12 1/2 hours of rehearsal time.

The culmination of the clinic was a fantastic concert held on Saturday, Feb. 7, where four levels of bands presented selections of music to a packed auditorium.
