ATLANTA – For Georgia families looking to save a little extra money for college expenses, while at the same time inspiring others, Georgia’s Path2College 529 Plan® is offering the first-ever “Saving for College Makes a Difference” essay contest, where families can win $529 toward a college savings plan. The winners will also be featured on a billboard.

“We always enjoy hearing about the positive impact saving for college has on students and their families, and we are hopeful that some of these amazing stories will inspire other families as they plan for their children’s educational futures,” said Mitch Seabaugh, director of the Path2College 529 Plan. “We are determined to increase the number of families who are aware of how a college savings plan can help their children attain their educational dream. This essay competition provides Georgians with an exciting opportunity to be creative and share their personal stories about the difference saving for college has made for them. It gives them a chance to inspire others and a chance to win even more for their savings.”

To enter the “Saving for College Makes a Difference” essay contest, entrants must complete and submit an original essay, no more than 300 words in length, describing how saving for college will make or has made a difference in their lives or the lives of their families. The essay contest begins on October 22, and all essays must be submitted online at www.Path2College529.com by 11:59 p.m. EST on December 2 to have a chance at becoming a contest winner.

The essay contest is open to Georgia residents who are at least 16 years of age, but parents and grandparents are encouraged to share stories on behalf of younger children as well. Submitted essays will be judged on their originality, creativity and organization. A total of four entrants will be chosen as winners. The first winner will be selected from all eligible entries on November 11, 2012 and an additional winner will be selected weekly over the following three weeks.

Each winner will receive a college savings contribution of $529 and be featured on a billboard in the heart of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Official contest rules may be found at www.Path2College529.com. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.
