In February, Shorter College announced its plans to submit a proposal to the Georgia Board of Nursing for approval to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The state nursing board granted "developmental approval" for the proposal at its March meeting, giving the college the authorization to proceed with developing the BSN degree program. Dr. Vanice W. Roberts, a 30-year veteran of Kennesaw State University's nursing faculty, has been hired to serve as Shorter's first dean of the School of Nursing.
