A Cedartown man will serve at least two and a half years in jail because of his involvement with a stolen all-terrain vehicle.

Jonathon Bradshaw, 26, of 302 North College St., pleaded guilty Tuesday in Polk County Superior Court to one charge of theft by receiving a motor vehicle.

Superior Court Judge Richard Sutton sentenced Bradshaw according to recommendations from the district attorney’s office. The sentence was up to 10 years in jail with Bradshaw to serve five years. Sutton agreed to count the 20 months Bradshaw has been in jail on the charge as credit toward his time.

Bradshaw was also fined $2,000.

According to court testimony, Connie Summerville of Cedartown reported a four-wheeler as stolen on April 2011.

Bradshaw was arrested May 4, 2011.

Bradshaw’s attorney raised questions to the judge of how involved Bradshaw was in the theft and sale of the vehicle.

Bradshaw said a friend asked him to store the vehicle and showed him a bill of sale.

According to Bradshaw, he did not know Summerville and had nothing to do with stealing the vehicle. He also told the judge that he didn’t know the vehicle was stolen.
