Active members of the Polk County Chamber of Commerce are finding that a key card can open the door of opportunity for holiday savings.

The previous blue Buy Local Card has been replaced with a new Buy Local Key Card. These new key cards are being personally delivered to each Chamber member. These key cards can be used at any or all of the participating Chamber member businesses that offer a discount.

It is a member-to-member discount and can be used only by Chamber members and their employees.

Buy Local Key Cards must be presented to business participants at the time of purchase to receive a discount.

Business that participate in the program will be listed on the Polk Chamber website at www.polkgeorgia.com.

“We encourage people to buy local instead of traveling out of town,” said Executive Director Tamaka Hudson.

She reminded that people who travel out of Polk to buy gifts spend extra money on items such as fuel. They also provide additional tax dollars, which will be invested in that community.

“Funds spent in Polk County infuses our local economy and supports small businesses located here,” Hudson said. “Statistics prove that 80 percent of jobs are created by these stores. If we support them, they can keep their cash flow up and add needed jobs.”

She pointed out that industries are wonderful but prospects usually inquire about the quality of life.

“They are more likely to locate in an area where there is a sustainable local economy,” she said.
