The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Dec. 10:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Bert Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activities. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. The Alzheimer’s Association will hold a family caregiver workshop on Monday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Redmond Regional Medical Center lover level classrooms A and B. The workshop will cover the basics of Alzheimer’s Disease, caregiving tips for daily living and how to partner with your doctor. The featured speaker will be Melissa Boyd, r.n. 3. The Compassionate Friends of Polk County meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Second Baptist Church, 152 Evergreen Lane, in Cedartown (across from Cherokee Elementary School). The support group is for families to help with the grief and healing process after the loss of a child. It commemorates and honors children, siblings and grandchildren of all ages who have died from any cause. The organization is non-sectarian. The contact number recently changed. 4. Colleetoe’s Salon and Floyd Physical Therapy and Rehab are holding a coat drive for the Cedartown United Fund Dec. 3-13. New or used coats can be dropped off to Colleetoe’s Salon, 126 E. Fairmount Ave., Cedartown, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or Floyd Physical Therapy and Rehab, 801 N. Main St., Cedartown from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Floyd is also accepting hats and gloves.
