She was born on March 13, 1926 in Polk County, the daughter of the late William Jackson Rice and the late Grace Bowman Rice.
Mrs. Turner was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress and was a former cook for the Rockmart Lions Club.
Mrs. Turner was a member of the Hills Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Troy Alexander, on Oct. 23, 1992, and two brothers, William Lawrence Rice and Eugene Rice.
Survivors included her husband, James Alfred Turner of Rockmart; daughter, Janice Barnette and her husband, Jerry, of Taylorsville; son, Dennis Troy Alexander and his wife, Sharon, of Calhoun; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Shepard and Rev. Gerald McPherson officiating.
Eulogies were given by her son, Dennis Alexander and great-granddaughter, Maggie Paulk. Interment services followed in the family lot of Hills Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Grady Collum, Lewis Collum, Mitchell Rice, James Hembree, Jimmy McKelvey, David Campbell, C. J. Griffin and Leon Cook.
