Floyd County residents won’t have to travel far to get their share of fireworks shows this Independence Day holiday.

First, Cave Spring will have a display the evening of July 3 at a field across Padlock Mountain Road from the city pool. The Rome Braves also plan to have fireworks that evening at State Mutual Stadium.

Then, on July 4, the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority will have fireworks as part of a celebration at Ridge Ferry Park on Riverside Parkway.

Also on Independence Day morning is Cave Spring’s annual parade.

Rome’s July 4 event at Ridge Ferry Park begins at 1 p.m. with live music from several local bands; children’s activities such as a water slide, obstacle course and climbing wall; contests including watermelon eating and hula hoop; and classic summer foods.

The show starts at 5 p.m. with music from Francisco Vidal and Stevie Monce, Southern Thunder and KneckDown. After the fireworks show, KneckDown will perform again. The fireworks will likely start soon after 9 p.m.

Parking and admission are free, but spectators should bring lawn chairs and blankets. Trails will be closed from Burrell Creek to Ridge Ferry Stage on July 4 for the fireworks display set-up.
