Two Cedartown residents were arrested under the Family Violence Act after a fight in front of a juvenile.

From reports:

Darrell Wayne Pickett, 20, 27 Allen Dr., and Jennifer Lynn Pickett, 19, of the same location, were both arrested for battery and cruelty to children under the Family Violence Act.

On Saturday, March 13, officers were notified that the couple was engaged in a verbal argument because Jennifer Pickett came home and found Darrell Pickett with another female in the residence.

Jennifer Pickett also said she found some “weed” in a glass pot in her bedroom, which she admitted to flushing down the toilet.

She stated that they began yelling at each other and started “wrestling around.”

Both parties were fighting in front of their 21-month- old son.

Officer Chad Desanto spoke to the complainant/witness, who stated that when both parties began fighting, she got the child and took him to her residence next door.

The complainant then stated that both parties came outside and began fighting in front of their residence.

She reported to officers that Jennifer Pickett had bitten Darrell Pickett on his right arm.

Reports stated that Jennifer Pickett had a bruise in her chest area.

Darrell Pickett was placed under arrest and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for booking.

Jennifer Pickett and her son were escorted to the Polk County Police Department together. She was booked at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers notified DFACS and advised them that there was no immediate family to place the child with.

DFACS was able to make contact with members of Darrell Pickett’s family, where the 21-month-old is now staying.
