On Tuesday, Sept. 23, a man allegedly struck his wife with a baseball bat.

According to police:

Denise Byrd told police that at 460 Blackrock Road, she and her husband were engaged in a violent confrontation.

She claimed her husband, 38-year-old Roy Thomas Byrd, Jr. arrived at the Blackrock Road home in a pickup truck. Leaving the couple’s three children in the vehicle, Roy Byrd allegedly ran towards his wife armed with an aluminum baseball bat. He proceeded to beat her with the bat about the head and lower back.

When police arrived, they found that Denise Byrd’s injuries were consistent with her story. Roy Byrd was then arrested and charged with simple battery under the Family Violence Act.
