A Cedartown resident was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 31, for pointing a firearm at a family member.

From reports:

Christopher Todd Ennis, 19, was arrested after he pointed a black shotgun at his mother, Debra Knight, no age listed, and pulled the trigger at their residence on 2364 Johnson’s Lake Road.

The gun, though, was not loaded and thus did not fire.

According to the arresting officer, Cpl. Alan Glenn, Ennis laughed at his mother upon pulling the trigger.

Knight then called the police, who, upon arrival, were unable to locate Ennis.

The police were then called back to the residence and chased Ennis behind the house for half an hour before Glenn made the arrest.

Glenn then arrested Ennis for pointing a gun at another and transported him to the Polk County Jail.

Further investigation indicated that Ennis may have been under the influence of narcotics at the time.
