Mrs. Reid

Mrs. Cordie Cantrell Reid, 87, of Bremen passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006 at an area hospital in Carrollton.

She was born September 11, 1918 in Cedartown to the late Roy T. Cantrell and the late Cora Dollar Cantrell. Mrs. Reid was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bremen. She was a member of the Gold Star Wives and the Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her first husband, Byron White Thompson, who was killed while serving in World War II; her second husband, Paul Thomas Reid; her brothers, Dewey Cantrell, Norman Cantrell, Vernon Cantrell, Lee Cantrell, and Seals Cantrell; and her baby sister, Jewell Cantrell.

Mrs. Reid is survived by her sister, Lynn Cantrell Smith of Kennesaw; son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Nancy Thompson of Blissfield, Mich.; her daughters and son-in-law, Paulette and Dempsey Long of Carrollton; and Lynette Rogers; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 1 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Bremen with Rev. Herman Parker and Rev. Alvin Hunnicutt officiating. Music was provided by Judy Hunnicutt. Mrs. Reid will lie in state on Monday, May 1, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Bremen from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Byron Thompson, Craig Long, Casey Long, Zach Turner, Todd Johnson, Scott Barr and two friends of the family, Chad and Colton Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers were nephews.

Interment followed in the Bremen City Cemetery with Rev. Johnnie Carden officiating.

Mrs. Robinson

Mrs. Teresa E. King Henson Robinson, 44, of 143 King Road, Adairsville, died Thursday, April 17, 2006.

She was born in Floyd County, Jan. 25, 1962, daughter of Edward David and Mary Eunice Charles King. She had been employed by Cartersville Medical Center.

She was a member of Bread of Life Christian Center and had been active in “Relay for Life.”

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ed and Ruth Charles and her grandfather, Charlie King.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Robinson of Adairsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven (Coty) and Michelle Henson; daughter, Courtney Crane; stepson, Levi Robinson; parents, David and Eunice King; grandmother, Lillian King; brother, Danny King; a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Michael Jones; two nephews, a niece and a great nephew, all of Adairsville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2006 from Bread of Life Chirstian Center in White, Ga., with Rev. Max Maybern and Rev. Dennis Huskins officiating. Interment followed in Eastview Cemetery in Adairsville.

Pallbearers were Adrian Harris, Richard Robinson, Phillip Lowery, Tim Nicholson, Mitchell Johnson and Ronnie Abernathy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Courtney Crane Trust Fund at Unity Bank in Adairsville or Cartersville.

R. Dudley Barton and Son Funeral Home in Adairsville had charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Blankenship

Daniel Preston Blankenship, 64, of 140A Turner Road, Rome, died unexpectedly Thursday in an area hospital.

A native of Polk County, Mr. Blankenship was born November 11, 1941, son of Lena Robinson Blankenship and the late Bruce Blankenship. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having earned a Purple Heart in Vietnam and was a member of the Live Oak Baptist Church. He was associated with Klopman Mills for a number of years and had also been a bail bond recovery agent.

He was preceded in death by his father and by a nephew, Brandon Blankenship.

Survivors include his children, Danny Blankenship and wife, Barbara Ann, of Rome; Dee Ann Holman and husband, Robert, of Denver, Col.; Sean Blankenship of Rome; his mother, Lena Blankenship of Cave Spring; four grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Randy Blankenship of Rome; sisters, Gloria Blankenship and Nancy Fricks of Cave Spring and Brenda Mount of Lindale. Several nephews and a niece also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Stan Banther officiating. Interment followed in the Cave Spring Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion.

Pallbearers were Wayne Colburn, Jonathon Blankenship, Lamar Fricks, Adam Fricks, Bruce Blankenship and William Hicks.

Mr. Harrell

Mr. Ronnie Dwayne Harrell, 33, 601 Cleveland Ave., Rome and formerly of Cedartown, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006, following an extended illness. He was born August 29, 1972 in Polk County and was a member of the Piney Wood’s Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Harrell, Sr., and a niece Hope Jarrett.

Surviving are his mother and step father, Ethel and Matias Gonzalez of Rome; brother, Forrest Harrell, Jr., of Cartersville; sister, Teresa Jarrett of Cedartown. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Easterwood officiating. Interment followed in the Sander’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry Vines, Jerry Vines, Jr., John Allen, Joey Clark, Clyde Brown and Jay Johnson.

The family respectfully requests that flowers please be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the family.

Infant Bowling

Infant John Ray Bowling, son of Chris and Robbin McDonald Bowling of 1695 Gadsden Road, S.W. Cave Spring, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Floyd Medical Center. He was born April 29, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Greg Oyler and maternal grandfather, Bob McDonald.

Infant Bowling is survived by his parents; paternal grandmother, Shirley Oyler of Rome; maternal grandmother, Pattie Eldridge of Cedartown; maternal great grandfather, J.W. Daniel of Cedartown; siblings, Justin Bowling, Phillip Bowling and Madison Hopper; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relative also survive.

Memorial services were held today, Thursday, May 4 at 7 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

Mr. Jones

Mr. James William “Jim” Jones, 78, of 219 Lawson Ave., passed away Saturday, April 29, following an extended illness.

Mr. Jones was born on Oct. 20, 1927 in Walton County, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cedartown. He was retired from the Arrow Shirt Company following 35 years of service.

He served as plant manager, regional manager and prior to his retirement was project director.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a past member of the Rotary Club and had been a member of various other clubs, civic groups and associations in Cedartown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Nellie Jones. He is survived by his wife, Gwen C. Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Leigh Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bobby Cowart; sister, Susan Jones Hix; and a number of grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 2, at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church of Cedartown with Rev. Steve Fetkenhour officiating.

Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens with full military honors conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland Post No. 86 Honor Guard.

Pallbearers were Russ Jones, Dustin Jones, Rob Cowart, Denny Fetkenhour and Mike Hix and Van McKelvey.
