The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for North and Central Georgia, including Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Polk and Walker counties.

It is predicting strong west to northwest winds from late morning through the afternoon. The strong surface winds and dry conditions will combine to create dangerous fire weather conditions today.

The primary hazards are windy conditions that could make dirving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, and the increased fire weather danger. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph and wind gusts of at least 35 mph can be expected.

The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.
