A Cedartown woman that sustained injuries in a car wreck on April 5 has died.

According to Assistant Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier, 70-year-old Emma Grace Bridges died from internal injuries sustained in the one-vehicle accident.

She died in the intensive care unit at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta on April 11, Brazier said, after spending several days in critical condition.

Emergency workers responded to a North Cave Spring Street residence on April 5, where Bridges had drove her vehicle into a tree.

According to a Cedartown police accident report, the vehicle left the roadway and traveled 270 feet through a field before striking the tree in the yard of a residence.

Witnesses on the scene said the vehicle left the roadway for no apparent reason. One witness said that it appeared that Bridges never attempted to apply the brakes in order to stop.
