In just over one month, the Cedartown Bulldogs 2009 football season will officially begin.
The schedule will be exactly the same as last year's, except all home games will now be away and all away games from last year will be at home.
Cedartown will open the season in the Battle of Polk County against Rockmart on Aug. 28. The Bulldogs, who won last year 21-12, will host the game at Cedartown Memorial Stadium on Doc Ayers Field.
The following week on Sept. 4, Mark Loudermilk’s team heads to Floyd County to take on one of the best teams in northwest Georgia at Pepperell. Cedartown, who lost to Pepperell 41-14 last season, is 11-11-1 against the Dragons since 1968.
Week three has the Bulldogs visiting the Coosa Eagles for the first time since 1987. Cedartown has a 12-3 all-time record against Coosa, but did suffer a heartbreaking 19-14 setback to the Eagles last year.
Chattooga comes calling to Cedartown Memorial Stadium on Sept. 18. Last season, Cedartown jumped out to a 22-8 lead after the first quarter but the Indians reeled off 40 straight points to win going away, 48-22.
