Shooting investigation leads to drug arrest

A shooting incident at the Legion at 319 Springdale Road led to the arrest of a Rockmart woman on drug charges.

According to Polk County Police Department reports, county police and an Aragon police officer arrived at the Legion shortly after midnight Dec. 12 to investigate a shooting.

The report doesn’t list anyone being shot or arrested in regards to the shooting. However, the call resulted in Mae Leigh Woods, 26, of 675 Pearidge Road, Rockmart going to jail.

Polk County Jail docket reports state Woods was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and theft by receiving stolen property.

She remains in the Polk County Jail.

Reports also state a vehicle, a 2004 Nissan Altima, valued at $8,900, was recovered.
