A Silver Creek man was arrested Wednesday and charged with forgery after police say he signed a false name after a traffic accident in February.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

James Tavares Mims, 25, of 100 Preacher Smith Road, was arrested by Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies and charged with felony forgery, giving false information to police, driving without a license and failure to yield.

Rome police said that on Feb. 25, Mims was involved in a wreck on Broad Street at Second Avenue. He apparently gave a false name to officers and signed two traffic citations in another person’s name.

Mims remains in jail without bail.
