The upgraded Polk Fish Wrap—thepolkfishwrap.com—goes live Thursday morning, June 24 and seeks to enhance reader experience while making breaking, local news readily available to Polk County residents and enthusiasts.
“The newly designed website incorporates several new features that we hope will make the web viewing experience more enjoyable for our readers,” said Lowell Vickers, publisher of News Publishing Company’s Polk County newspaper. “Our first effort has been well-received by the community and is a must-read for Internet users both here in Polk County and abroad. We expect interest in the site to continue top grow with the new enhancements.”
Because The Cedartown Standard only publishes twice a week and The Rockmart Journal once a week, having a modern, current site is a top priority for us. The new site will better serve readers with more accessible and up-to-date news, all available at your fingertips during the workday, after dinner, or before bed.
New features include an announcements section on the front page that displays important upcoming events in the area. The community event calendar is also available for user input, so please publicize your events on our front-page calendar and check both of these for the latest on Polk events.
Another great new feature is the city-specific tabs available under the news section. Readers who remember the original separate sites—one for Rockmart and one for Cedartown—will be happy to know that news and sports are now divided into region-specific tabs and that those interested in only Cedartown news can bookmark the Cedartown section and receive a more localized experience.
Under the new system, top stories will remain at the top of the front page, giving precedence to priority local news without bumping them down for state and regional news. The photo gallery section will also add to the experience and allow for more photos to be posted on our end for easy viewing and a better-rounded online publication.
Our goal was to make the new Polk Fish Wrap easier to navigate and update while still allowing the operating simplicity available in the previous site, and I certainly hope we’ve accomplished that for you, our readers.
I welcome all comments and questions and am very happy to be a part of this big change. Feel free to leave questions and comments below, and I will try to address each of them.
