Playing as part of the Tri-County Middle School Softball Association, the team has lost just one game during the season and went 2-1 this past Saturday as they hosted Cedartown and Summerville.
But their win over Cedartown gave them the No. 1 seed in the area tournament, which will be held in Rockmart this weekend.
“We’re doing pretty good so far,” Rockmart coach Kevin Stephens said.
The middle school program has divided its players into two separate teams this season for the first time, putting the younger player on team to help them get more playing time and continue to improve.
Stephens said that they have had more than 30 girls on the team for the last three or four years.
The Tri-County Middle School Softball Association includes teams from Rockmart, Darlington, Rome, Summerville and Cedartown.
The double-elimination tournament starts Friday at 5 p.m. at the Nathan Dean Sports Complex and will continue Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Rockmart High School softball field.
